The Creative Discovery Museum will host Chemistry Fun Day: “Solving Mysteries Through Chemistry” on Saturday, where guests will investigate the chemistry of forensics.
Guests will participate in a variety of hands-on experiments with every day materials resulting in chemical reactions. From creating slime to testing PH levels of different liquids, “Solving Mysteries Through Chemistry” allows the science to become more approachable and relatable, encouraging further exploration at home, school or as a potential career, said officials.
“Chemistry touches every aspect of our lives from the complex reactions that occur in our bodies, to the products we use on a daily basis,” said Karen Dewhirst, science manager at Creative Discovery Museum. “Chemistry Fun Day is a unique opportunity to make chemistry fun, approachable and relevant to children and their parents.”
The GPS Honors Chemistry Class, UTC Chemistry Club and TVA employees will be on hand to assist guests with experiments and talk to them about why they love chemistry.
National Chemistry Week is an annual event that unites the American Chemical Society with businesses, schools and individuals by communicating the importance of chemistry to the quality of life. This year marks the 29th celebration of the event across the world.
The event begins at noon and ends at 4 p.m. All activities are included with admission to the Museum.
