A special events beer permit was issued by the City Beer Board on Thursday morning for Oktoberfest that will be put on by Haven & Ale, 9453 Bradmore Lane at Cambridge Square, for the third year.

On Saturday from noon until 5 p.m. there will be a beer truck stationed outside the business in the parking lot. The square will be blocked off from traffic by the Chattanooga Police Department during that time.

Wrist bands will be used to identify people who are 21 or over to allow the sale of beer.

All 19 Mapco convenience stores in the Chattanooga area are changing ownership and so were required to get new beer permits. The new owner, Copec, is a large South American company that already owns 3,000 convenience stores in South America. The regional manager for the local stores said all of them are already certified as responsible vendors and that the structure of the business and the current employees will be retained. The old licenses will be replaced by the ones issued on Thursday when the sale closes on Oct. 31.
