The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional in Murfreesboro, Tenn., today. The Mocs' sophomore doubles team of Delaney Edwards and Sydney Patton scored a big win over the tournament's No. 5 seed in Friday's action.
Patton and Edwards took out fifth-seeded Anki Wind and Hanna Sohn of Memphis (8-6), advancing to the Round of 16 in the main draw. There they lost to Austin Peay's Claudia and Lydia Garcia (8-2) in evening action.
Patton had the lone win in singles play today.
She beat Xavier's Rachel Reichenbach (6-2, 6-2) in the consolation bracket earlier in the morning.
"I really was proud of our turnaround," stated head coach Chad Camper. "I think a couple of loose ends that we have been working on finally came together. A lot of confidence was gained and I look forward to finishing our fall season next week at Alabama. I am really excited about how this team is coming together."
UTC closes out its fall schedule next weekend at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic. Action takes place in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Oct. 28-29.
