U.S. Army Veteran Retired From Chattanooga Tent Company After 60 Years

Herman Dennis Jenkins, Sr., 85, died on Thursday, October 20, 2016 in a local hospital. 

He was a member of Transforming Faith Baptist Church.  He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was employed at Chattanooga Tent Company for 60 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Jessie Mae Jenkins; sisters, Lily Williams and Mary Jenkins; son, Adrian Jenkins; and step-son, Greg Jenkins.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jenkins; daughter, Faneeta (Willie) Mayweather; sons, Wayne Jenkins, Kevin Jenkins, Michael Jenkins, Lawrence (Candance) Jenkins and Herman Dennis Jenkins, Jr.; step-daughter, Sonya Fleming; sister, Pauline Jenkins; brothers, Johnny Jenkins and Robert (Mary) Jenkins, all of Chattanooga; three sisters-in-law, of Chicago; one sister-in-law,  of New Britain, CT; one brother-in-law, of San Diego, CA; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, in the chapel. Interment will be on Monday, Oct. 31, at 11:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service the day of service at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
