Lady Flames Win One, Lose Won On Weekend Road Trip

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Lee volleyball team avenged an earlier season loss to Alabama-Huntsville with a 3-0 sweep of the Chargers on Saturday afternoon from Spragins Hall.

The Lady Flames jumped out of the gate strong with a 25-22 win in set one.

Lee followed with a 25-19 victory in set two to take control of the match. In the third and final set the Lady Flames lead from start to finish en route to a 25-21 win to complete the sweep.

Silvia Sartori registered a double-double with 13 kills and 14 digs. The Serbian heavy hitter leads the Lady Flames with 264 kills on the season.

The balanced offensive attack featured five players with five or more slams. Catherine Conley had nine while Brooke Wilsman and Carly Callahan chipped in eight apiece. Crystal Dedes followed with six and Blaire Beamer sparked the offense as she rotated in for five kills of her own. Dedes, a transfer from Azusa Pacific, was efficient with a .333 hitting mark.

Sadie Johnson got the offense in position to score with 27 assists and also proved valuable on the defensive end with a match-high 15 digs.

As a team Lee had 51 kills to just 28 for the Chargers. The Lady Flames finished with a .233 hitting percentage while Alabama-Huntsville hit at just a .132 clip.

The victory inches the Lady Flames closer to the .500 mark at 10-11 overall but more importantly puts them at 6-7 in the GSC as they look to finish in the top six and qualify for the GSC Tournament starting  Tuesday, Nov. 15. The loss drops the Chargers to 14-7 on the year and an even 7-7 in league play.

The Lady Flames will look to ride the momentum of the road victory back to Walker Arena on Tuesday as they host Christian Brothers at6 p.m. Lee has enjoyed playing at home on the sport court this season posting a record of 4-2.

FLORENCE, Ala. - The Lee volleyball team fell to GSC powerhouse North Alabama, 3-0 on Friday evening.

The Lions opened with a 25-16 victory in set one. The home team followed with a 25-19 advantage in set two as they held off a late five-point run by the Lady Flames after jumping out to another early lead. The third and final set jostled back and forth before the Lions pulled away to claim a 25-20 win.

Brooke Wilsman led the way for Lee with nine kills and 11 digs. Silvia Sartori followed with seven slams while middle hitters Catherine Conley (6) and Crystal Dedes (5) also chipped offensively. Sadie Johnson ended the match with 14 assists.

Natasha Fomina recorded a match-high 16 kills to pace the North Alabama. She was joined in double-figure scoring by Peyton Lang with 10. Jayden Davila McClary set the hitters up with 36 assists.

The Lady Flames fall to 9-11 overall and are 5-7 in the GSC. The win propels the Lions to 20-4 and 10-3.
