A Harrison man is facing weapons and drug charges as well as assault on his wife.

Gerald Quintel Thompson, 35, of 6901 Sandy Cove Dr., was charged early Sunday morning with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, aggravated kidnapping, possession of meth, tampering with evidence, interference with an emergency call and possession of a firearm while in commission of a felony.

Shortly after 3 a.m., police were called by a woman who was screaming and saying she was being choked. Police said they had answered domestic calls at the same address previously.

Officers found Thompson starting to pull out of the driveway in a Ford Focus. He was ordered out of the vehicle and onto the ground. An open switchblade knife was taken from his pocket.

A .38 Special ammunition round was found on the floor in a hallway of the house. Police searched the Ford Focus and found a revolver that was loaded with five rounds of .38 Special ammunition. Also found were 2.6 grams of crystal meth, a large number of plastic baggies and digital scales.

Thompson's wife said he threw her down two flights of stairs, then pinned her down with his knee to her chest when she tried to call 911.
