Dalton State's Caroline Griffin was on the Chick-fil-A intercollegiate All Tournament Team
Two of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ top teams were tied for the lead after the first day of the Chick-Fil-A Intercollegiate Women’s Golf Tournament at the 5866 yards, par 72 Stonebridge Golf Club.
No. 4 SCAD-Savannah (310-299=609) came away with the championship. No. 6 Dalton State (310-311=621) finished Tuesday’s final round four stokes behind NCAA Division III No. 10 ranked Berry College (313-304=617).
The tournament is the usual format of five players with the low four each day counting. The Roadrunner counting scores came from Caroline Griffin (74-74=148), Isabel Rijos (76-82=159), Katie Dalton (79-78=157), and Tia Teiniketo (80-77=157) had Dalton State’s counting scores. Hannah Gasaway (84-83=167) was odd golfer out.
Carly Shane (74-83=157) , Rachel Rebne (78-90=168), and Haejin Choe (86-71=157) played as individuals for DS.
There was a tie for individual medalist between Paulina Camacho (73-72=145) of SCAD-Savannah and Tori Ramirez (74-71=145) of Berry College. Rebecca Borstron (77-70=147) of Southeastern – Fl. edged Griffin by one stroke.
Roadrunners golf teams will finish the fall season on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 31-Nov. 1) in the SSAC Fall Preview at Arrowhead Country Club in Montgomery.
