Senator David Perdue Applauds FBI Reopening Clinton Email Investigation

  • Friday, October 28, 2016

Senator David Perdue on Friday released the following statement regarding the FBI reopening its investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server:

“I applaud the FBI’s decision to reopen the investigation into Secretary Clinton’s private email server.

It’s clear that Secretary Clinton acted with extreme carelessness while handling classified information. In the U.S. Senate, we have taken several steps to hold her accountable for her actions. Recently, I joined several of my colleagues to introduce the Taking Responsibility Using Secured Technologies (TRUST) Act, which would revoke Secretary Clinton’s security clearance. Additionally, as Chairman of the Subcommittee on State Department and USAID Management, I will continue to advance the Securing Our Secrets (SOS) Act , which explicitly prohibits all State Department officials from using private email accounts and servers to handle classified information. Ultimately, this type of careless behavior cannot be allowed to continue.”
