Bike Chattanooga, Motivate Launch #WomenWhoBike Campaign

  • Tuesday, October 4, 2016

Bike Chattanooga is hosting its first Women’s Bike Month - #womenwhobike - to celebrate the women in bike share and encourage more women to give this rapidly growing and popular transportation option a try. Currently, women only account for 34 percent of all bike share members and Bike Chattanooga wants to see that change.

From New York City to San Francisco and many cities in between, Women’s Bike Month will provide women with the resources and support to get biking. Throughout October, Bike Chattanooga will profile female cyclists and organize fun-filled Women’s Group Ride events, such as Bikes, Babes, and Bluegrass and Heels on Wheels Wearing Teal.

A complete list of events can be found here: http://try.bikechattanooga.com/womenwhobike/resources/

“Notice that you never see someone biking around the city with a frown on, and that's because biking is not only convenient, economical, and green - but it's also fun! With stations throughout the city, Bike Chattanooga makes it easy to commute around our beautiful downtown. Plus you always have free parking,” said Meagan Shinn of River City Company.

Biking is a great way to enjoy fresh air and exercise while getting around the city. Between the cooling weather and beautiful scenery, October is a wonderful time to start riding. Bike Chattanooga recently expanded its system by doubling the Walnut St Bridge Station and adding 4 new stations bringing the total number of stations to 37. Three new stations are located on the Riverwalk at the Curtain Pole Rd Trailhead, Blue Goose Hollow, and South Broad Street Riverwalk Trailhead while the 4th station was placed at ML King Blvd and University Street. You can find a complete list of stations here.
