Hixson Students Sew Pillows For Breast Cancer Patients

  • Wednesday, October 5, 2016

Hixson High School students involved in the Girl Talk mentoring program will donate hand-sewn heart-shaped pillows they designed and hand-stitched for breast cancer patients at the MaryEllen Locher Breast Center at CHI Memorial this Thursday at 9:30 a.m.  This is a semester-long service project.

Breast cancer patients use pillows throughout their cancer journey from diagnosis to surgery to treatment.

The pillows can provide physical comfort after a biopsy and support the head or neck during treatment.  They also provide emotional comfort because women know the pillows are a gift from the heart from community members.
