The public is invited to take part in an American Flag retirement ceremony this Saturday from 7-7:30 p.m. on the grounds of the Houston Museum, 201 High St. (across the street from the Bluff View's Rembrandt's coffee house).
Eagle Scout candidate Daniel Casagrande and the Houston Museum of Decorative Arts will host the event.
"Most people don't know how to properly and reverently dispose of an old U.S. Flag. We'd like to honor the service of our military, first responders and other citizens who help keep our community safe and patriotic," officials said.
"Daniel will place stations around the parking area to educate visitors on the proper way to retire an American flag, flag etiquette and flag history. He’ll also have a display of different American flags."
