Man, 21, Shot In The Back While Getting Into Vehicle On Pinewood Avenue

A man was shot in the back while getting into a vehicle on Pinewood Avenue just before 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Police said the injury to Geonta Gaines, 21, was serious, but not life-threatening.

Chattanooga Police were dispatched to the 3300 block of Pinewood Avenue at 5:57 p.m. to a person shot call.

Police arrived at a local hospital where the victim was transported via personal vehicle.

He and witnesses told investigators of his getting fired on while climbing into the car.

Investigators with the Violent Crimes Bureau are following all actionable leads in the case.
