Work Harder And Faster, City Council Members

  • Tuesday, November 15, 2016

I was amused to read the comments from the various City Council members regarding the abolishment of the legislative analyst.  In particular, my favorite comment came from Council Chairman Moses Freeman:  "I don't think we ought to play politics with this. We are not going to be effective without staff.”

Hello?  Each of you on the City Council have been ineffective since the day you took office!  Why would the addition of one position cause you to believe that the City Council could/would be in a better position to represent the constituents of the city of Chattanooga?

Whenever I have been in the position of needing additional help, the response I have gotten has been, “Work harder and work faster!”  I make that same recommendation to each of you.  In addition, if you want to represent your constituency, I suggest that you get out of your comfy chair and get out into the districts each of you represent to find out about your respective district’s concerns.

As always, I send out a great big thank you to Carol Berz for her insightful statement, "We are not the same as we were 20 years ago.”  Really?  Perhaps she should become the council historian.
