County Commission Will Not Have Formal Interviews Of District 3 School Board Applicants

  • Wednesday, November 16, 2016

County Commission Chairman Chester Bankston said the commission will not have formal interviews of the applicants for an appointment to the County School Board from District 3.

He said individual commissioners could speak with those applying to replace Greg Martin, who won the District 3 seat on the County Commission vacated by Marty Haynes when he became assessor.

Chairman Bankston also said a group in Hixson is planning a candidate forum on Nov. 28. He said all County Commission members may want to attend.

Commissioner Greg Beck suggested that there be a straw poll of those attending the forum. He said, "The people in that district are the ones who speak the most to me."

He said candidates can apply with the commission office starting Friday and continuing until 4 p.m. next Tuesday.
