An 18-year-old caught burglarizing a house in St. Elmo told police he is "a good guy" who was doing it because his mother needed money.

Cordarrius Bailey, of 1924 Robbins St., was charged with aggravated burglary in the incident on Thursday.

Police were dispatched to 4207 Tennessee Ave. on a burglary in progress call. Officers spotted a black male leaving the residence. He was caught two blocks away.

It was found that the door had been forced open and a couple of rooms were ransacked.

A neighbor identified Bailey as the one who kicked in the front door.

Bailey told police that the IPhone in his pocket had come from the house.
