Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger Proclaims Thanksgiving Day As Grateful Gobbler Day

  • Friday, November 18, 2016

Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger was joined by Jeff Jackson, market leader of First Tennessee Bank, and Theresa Biggs, member of the Grateful Gobbler Planning Committee to present a proclamation declaring Thanksgiving Day as Grateful Gobbler Day in Hamilton County.

The effort promotes the Grateful Gobbler Walk, which takes place on Thanksgiving morning in Coolidge Park. The family friendly walk was founded in 1999.

"All of the proceeds of the Walk will benefit The Maclellan Shelter for Families located onsite at the Community Kitchen on 11th Street in Chattanooga. This emergency shelter features 13 units with 64 beds and is the first of its kind in Chattanooga, as it provides a stable environment for an intact family to remain together as they search for permanent housing solutions," officials said.  "Since 2014, more than 200 families, comprising of over 500 men, women, and children, have benefited from the programs including meals, case management, and job training provided by the Maclellan Shelter for Families."
