Firefighters working long hours almost have three major woods fires north of Chattanooga under control.
Julie Allen, forestry public information officer, said, " Despite the high winds today the firefighters made incredible progress today on all three wildfires. The crews that have been working these wildfires in Hamilton County have worked tirelessly for days on end to suppress these wildfires for this community and we are incredibly grateful for their hard work and dedication."
The Flippers Bend Fire, which burned 979 acres at North Chickamauga Creek, is 100 percent contained.
The Mowbray fire, with almost 899 acres, is 90 percent under control.
The Poe Road blaze, consuming 712 acres, is 95 percent contained.
Currently, there are no structures in danger for those three fires.
The National Weather Service warned Sunday morning that a high fire danger continues along with a new cold front.
