The County School Board plans to consider appointing Dr. Kirk Kelly as superintendent at the Nov. 17 meeting.
The board at the meeting last Thursday chose a superintendent search firm, but several board members expressed an interest in keeping Dr. Kelly, who was named interim after Rick Smith stepped down.
New board member Kathy Lennon made a motion to appoint Dr. Kelly, saying there were a number of positives changes in the county schools under his leadership. David Testerman seconded it.
However, Board Attorney Scott Bennett said a 15-day notice was needed if the interim was to be elevated to superintendent.
The meeting will be at the Central Office at Bonny Oaks at 5:30 p.m.
