Heights Wins One, Loses One In Hawks Havoc Action

Hamilton Heights Christian Academy split games in Hawks Havoc basketball action Friday and Saturday at Tyner Academy Middle School.

On the first day, the Hawks blasted Charlotte Basketball Academy 85-62, but dropped a 58-54 battle against The Rock out of Gainesville, Fla., on Saturday.

Therren Shelton-Szmidt, a Middle Tennessee State signee, led the Hawks (1-1) with 21 points against the Rock. Szmidt had 15 points in the first half, including four 3s on five attempts behind the arc.

Kentucky signee Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 17 points and also had six rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who will play collegiately at Virginia Tech, was held to six points. He finished with nine assists, three steals and two blocks.

Darius Day paced The Rock with 17 points and Antrell Charlton had 12 points with three 3s in the first period.

In the opener against CBA, the Hawks fell behind 49-31 at the half and couldn’t keep pace with the opponent in the second half.

Alexander scored 26 points, Walker dropped in 20 and Szmidt contributed 17.

The Hawks made 12 3s in the game, including four by Walker and three by Szmidt.

Ahkeem White led CBA with 23 points and Jordan Davis scored 19.

Hamilton Heights returns to action on Nov. 25 when it will compete in the two-day Lighthouse Thanksgiving Classic at Corinth (Miss.) High School.
