Alexander's 19 Points Powers 67-62 Victory

The Hamilton Heights’ “Canadian Connection” combined to score 42 points Friday night as the Hawks defeated the Tech Academy in the Lighthouse Thanksgiving tournament in Corinth, Miss.

Playing at Corinth High School, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, a University of Kentucky signee, led the Hawks (2-1) with 19 points. Therren Shelton-Szmidt scored 13 points and Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Issa Samake each had 10 points.

Samake also had eight rebounds and Szmidt pulled down six.

Alexander contributed six assists and four steals for the Hawks, who had a 34-25 halftime advantage.

There were 10 lead changes in the game.

Shakwon Barrett paced the Tech Titans with 22 points, including 5 3-pointers. Matur Maker added 20 points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

The tournament continues Saturday.

Meanwhile the Hamilton Heights Lady Hawks turned back Memphis White Station as Jazmine Massengill scored 21 points and added six steals, four assists and one block.

Elizabeth Balogun had 13 points, five rebounds, six assists, four steals and two blocked shots.

Amber Hunt finished with 11 points, three assists and two rebounds.

Saire Hicke paced White Station with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. She scored nine points in the fourth quarter.
