Covenant men's basketball junior forward Patjo Twagirayezu has been named the USA South Player of the Week, for the period ending Nov. 27, announced the conference on Monday afternoon.

The honor is Twagirayezu's first career weekly honor and he is the first men's basketball player to garner a weekly accolade this season.

The junior from Kigali, Rwanda, scored a career-high 24 points on 11-of-17 shooting in Covenant's 68-65 win at Birmingham Southern last Tuesday in the Scots' lone contest of the week.
Twagirayezu also collected three steals, the last of which sealed the win in the final seconds of the contest, to go along with three rebounds and three assists.

On the year, Twagirayezu is averaging 13.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game to help Covenant to a 3-1 start to the season. Twagirayezu is also shooting 47.7 percent from the floor and 87.5 percent at the free throw line.

Covenant (3-1) takes on Sewanee on Tuesday on the road. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. EST.
