The Irish of Notre Dame overcame six first half turnovers to take a 14-6 halftime lead Friday night in their first round playoff game against visiting Smith County. The Irish would score five touchdowns in the second half with no turnovers, going on to win 49-15.
Three interceptions and three fumbles slowed down the potent Notre Dame offense in the first half. Akil Sledge opened the scoring with a one yard run with 2:06 left in the first quarter.
Andrew Banks would score the first of five touchdowns in the second quarter on a 48 yard scamper.
Banks scored from 56 yards, 2 yards, 33 yards and 30 yards in the second half to help the Irish to the 49-15 win.
Notre Dame will travel to Sequatchie County next week for a second round match up.
