Yemen Native Who Allegedly Made Statement That He Was Part Of ISIS But Was Found Not Guilty Of Threats Gets 9-Month Sentence For Misdemeanors

  • Monday, November 7, 2016

A native of Yemen who allegedly made a statement to government officials that he was part of ISIS, but was not convicted of that offense, has been sentenced to serve nine months in federal prison.

Fahd Albaadani, who has already been in custody for seven months, appeared before Federal Judge Curtis Collier.

The government wants to deport Albaadani, and he would like to return to Yemen, but Yemen does not want him, prosecutor Perry Piper said.

Albaadani earlier was found not guilty on two felony charges involving alleged threats. He was found guilty of two misdemeanors.

Prosecutor Piper had argued that he should be sentenced to the maximum two years on the misdemeanors.

He pointed out that Albaadani has posed with a number of guns in Facebook photos.

He is no longer suppose to possess any weapon.
