The Chattanooga Ronald McDonald House's new young professional chapter is the Red Shoe Society. The Red Shoe Society is a group of philanthropic young professionals (ages 21-39) who work together to raise funds, encourage new volunteers and enhance awareness of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Great Chattanooga.

The first official meeting will be held Monday, Nov. 21, at 5:45 p.m. at the charity’s location, 200 Central Ave.

Dues are not required for the November meeting, but for those interested in joining the annual membership fee is $66, the cost for the charity to host one family for one night.

The Red Shoe Society was founded this summer when 13 individuals came together to form the Executive Council including: Co-Chairs: Madyson Foster; Matthew Smith, Secretary: Trish King, Treasurer: Michael Murphy, Event Chairs: Hannah Johnson; Brad Phillips; Brooke Williams, Marketing and Communications Chairs: Tyler Shugarts; Ashlee Walsh, Membership Chairs: Emilee Dishner; Sawyer Voges, Service Chairs: DeSharla Adkins; Emily Smith and Sponsorship Chairs: Chad Lee; Scott Proesch.

“I’ve been volunteering with my mom since I was a little girl," said Ms. Foster. "It’s been a family tradition and I was invested into the RMHC mission at an early age. Now 25-years-old, I’m ecstatic to be a part of the Red Shoe Society."

“This is the most unique young professionals group you can be a part of in Chattanooga," said Mr. Smith.  "Yes, it’s social and fun, but it has a serious mission and gives the younger generation an opportunity to be a part of something bigger than themselves."

On Oct. 13 at the H*Art Gallery, the Society had a soft launch to encourage individuals to join where RMHC President and CEO, Jane Kaylor, explained the importance of the younger generation stepping up.

“Thirty years ago, I was you," said Ms. Kaylor.  "Standing in your shoes. Wanting to make a difference and figure out how to even build the Ronald McDonald House here in Chattanooga. From that, I’ve been able to be a part of a mission to help families who needed it most and even made lifelong friends along the way."
