U.S. Air Force Veteran Retired As Terminal Manager With Kenan Transportation

Dan Steele, Jr., 80, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, November 30, 2016.

Mr. Steele was born in Whitwell, Tn., and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Red Bank.  He retired as the terminal manager from Kenan Transportation and was previously active with Gideon’s International and a troop leader with the Boy Scouts of America.  Dan was also a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in the military police overseas and stateside with his twin brother, Don Steele.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Edith Steele; brothers, Don and Joe Steele; and baby sister, Essie Dean Steele.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Jean Steele; son, Jason Steele; brother, Jim Steele of Ringgold; and two nephews, Randy Steele of Michigan and Joe Steele of Chattanooga.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, and 12-1 p.m. on Saturday, Dev. 3, at the funeral home. 

Funeral services be at 1 PM on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Dwight Martin officiating.

Burial will follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
