Cleveland, Whitwell Earn Key Wrestling Victories

Blue Raiders Record Eight Pins While Tigers Beat East Ridge For First Time

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Blue Raiders didn't have any trouble defeating the Cookeville Cavaliers in a prep wrestling match Thursday night as the winning Cleveland squad got eight pins en route to the victory.

Bryce Pond, Colton Landes, Zach Brezna, Dylan Jones, Robert Hicks, Jason Strickland, Seth Garcia and Titus Shafton all recorded falls for the Blue Raiders while Garrett Stevenson, Barret Bowers and Caleb Eachus all received forfeits.

Jayce Mullin had the toughest match for Cleveland as it took an overtime for him to prevail over Cookeville's James Hardcum by a 3-1 final in the match at 126 pounds.

Cookeville's only wins came from a pin at Jarrett Talbott at 138 and a technical fall from Bradley Houmard at 145.

WHITWELL MADE history Thursday night at they beat East Ridge for the first time in history, the Tigers prevailing by a 42-18 victory.  They also defeated St. Andrews-Sewanee by a 42-9 final.

Warner Ashworth, Daniel Mikel, T.D. Argo and James Headrick all recorded pins in the win over East Ridge while Steven Davoren had the only pin for East Ridge.

Allen Ashworth, Jaren Thames, Mikel and Argo all added pins for Whitwell in the match against SAS.
