James Coleman
James "Jim" T. Coleman, Jr., 67, of Chattanooga, passed away on December 9, 2016, in Chattanooga.
Jim was born in Chattanooga to James T. and Helen Coleman on June 20, 1949. He graduated from Brainerd High School in 1967. He received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee in 1971. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Captain. He served as the Aircraft Commander of the KC 135 Stratotanker. He enjoyed his family, wood working, riding his scooter, and his cats. He was a member of Tyner United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, James T. Coleman and brother, Christopher Coleman.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gayle; son, James T. Coleman III "Jamie" (Laura) of Atlanta; daughter, Dawn Cox (Spencer) of Chattanooga; mother, Helen Coleman Manning of Signal Mountain; grandsons, Thomas and William Coleman of Atlanta; and beloved cats, Smokey and Maddie.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
