Retired From Norfolk Southern Railroad As A Switchman

James Edward Garner, 81, of Rossville, Georgia, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016.  

A graduate of Central High School, he was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a switchman.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the American Legion Post 95.  Mr. Garner was an avid golfer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Olan and Mildred Garner.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Harris Garner; sons, Mike Harris, Steve Harris and Charles (Suzanne) Harris; four grandsons and one granddaughter; two step-grandchildren; four great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road.  

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, at the funeral home.

 

Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 95.
