Robert J. West, 83, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, died on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the local hospital.
Robert was born Feb. 19, 1933 in Eton, GA, to the late Earnest and Effie Blackwell West; and was also preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Mae Rainey West; brother, Winfred West; and sisters, Kathlene Hudspeth, Evelyn Price and Louise Kinney.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Ross and Regena West of Tunnel Hill, GA, Michael Bailey and Barbara Simerley of Ringgold, GA, Allen and Neva Bailey of Tunnel Hill, GA; brother, Billy West; sister, Frances Fitzgerald both of Texas; grandchildren, Jayton West, Cadence West, Austin Busby, RaeAnna Higginbotham, Summer Jennings, Bryson Jennings, Devon Bailey and April Quarles; best friend, Maynard Young of Chatsworth, GA; great-granddaughter, Anna Faye Quarles; and nieces and nephews.
Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Robert J. West will be held Monday Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Brother George Cross officiating. Interment will follow in the Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11.
