Robert S. Howard, 92, of Rising Fawn, Georgia, passed away on Friday December 2, 2016.
He was retired from the Georgia Forestry Commission after a number of years and was a member of the Cloverdale Baptist Church. Mr. Howard was a veteran of the U.S. Army and landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy, serving in Rhineland, North France. He received 3 Battle Stars, the Purple Heart and a World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his wife Reba Selvey Howard; son Dale Howard; parents Lee and Sarah Durham Howard; and brother Floyd Howard.
Survivors include his daughter Carolyn (Mike) Greene of Pace, FL; daughter Sandra Denton of Rising Fawn, GA; daughter Delilah McCluer of Rising Fawn, GA; son Willard Howard of Rising Fawn, GA; sister Louise Dover of Chattanooga, TN; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Dade Health and Rehabilitation Center and Hearth Hospice for the care they provided.
Funeral services were held on Saturday Dec. 10.
