Dustin Adams
Dustin Adams, 26, who walked away from a court ordered evaluation at Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute, has been captured in Polk County.
New charges lodged against him include aggravated burglary, vandalism, and a state probation violation.
Officials from the Institute reported him missing at approximately 7:37 p.m. on Saturday.
Hamilton County Sheriff’s corrections officers signed Adams over to the Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute on Tuesday. Adams was not in the custody of the HCSO at the time of the escape.
Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in the search for Adams, including the Chattanooga Police Department, U.S. marshals, and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
Adams is the inmate who previously escaped from the Hamilton County Jail in September. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, grey long-sleeved shirt, and black undershirt.
Prior to his transfer to Moccasin Bend, he was in the custody of the Hamilton County Jail. He has warrants through Hamilton County due to his departure from the hospital.
He has prior charges for theft, a firearm possession, and escape from the Hamilton County Jail, but no crimes involving violence.
