Heights Rolls Past St. James 68-44 In Miller Invitational

Szmidt, Walker Combine For 30 Points For 10-Win Hawks

Therren Shelton Szmidt and Nickeil Alexander-Walker combined for 30 points Tuesday night to lead Hamilton Heights past St. James 68-44 in the Joe Miller Invitational at New Hanover High School in Wilmington, N.C.

Szmidt scored 16 points 6-of-10 shooting to pace the Hawks (10-4). Szmidt was 0-for-3 from 3-point distance, but 6 of 7 inside the arc.

Walker added 14 points and four assists. He scored nine points in the first half as the Hawks built a 35-21 lead. Walker made 4 of 9 shots, including 2 of 5 on 3-pointers.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was held to seven points and made just 1 of 6 shots from the field, that a 3-pointer. He was 0 for 5 from inside 3-point distance. Alexander grabbed a team-high six rebounds, helping the Hawks to a 34-21 advantage on the boards.

The tournament resumes on Wednesday.
