DPD Investigates Car Theft, Seeks Persons Of Interest

  • Tuesday, December 6, 2016

The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help with identifying two men who may be able to provide information on a recent car theft. The two men were recorded on surveillance near a stolen vehicle just after it was ditched at a Dalton service station.

The car theft happened on the morning of Nov. 15 at a home on Alice Court in Dalton. The victim walked out to his car, a blue 2006 Nissan Sentra, and started the engine to warm up the car. He then went back inside to finish getting ready for work. When he returned approximately fifteen minutes later, the car was gone.

The stolen car was recovered later the same day at the BP service station at 1133 Airport Road.  A review of surveillance video from the store shows the car being parked at 11:33 a.m, pulling out of view of the camera. Less than a minute later, two white men walk from the area where the car was parked and go into the store. After spending a few minutes in the store, the two men left on foot walking in the opposite direction from where they came, heading south towards Tibbs Bridge Road on Airport Road.

Surveillance video does not show suspects getting out of the stolen vehicle because it was parked outside the view of the video camera so the two men are not necessarily considered suspects in this case. Investigators are hoping they may have seen something that could provide information about the suspects. Both men appear to be in their 20s. One man had some facial hair and wore a brown jacket and a throwback Atlanta Braves baseball cap with a lower case “a” logo. The second man wore a very bright neon green shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sam Eaton at 706-278-9085, dial 9 and enter extension 158.
