Apocalypse Or Just A Horrible Nightmare - And Response

  • Thursday, December 8, 2016

I have my coffee and picked up the tablet for my morning news.

Is there somewhere I read Sarah Palin is being considered for Secretary of Veterans Affairs? is the apocalypse truly upon us? Or was that just a horrible nightmare?

One of the early narratives about Donald Trump was that because of his inexperience in politics he would surely surround himself with competent people who would advise him on the issues.  He would be a CEO who would hire the right people, put them in place and let them do their jobs.

Throughout his campaign this narrative was subverted time and time again as highly competent individuals refused to be associated with him.  Yes, he won the presidency, but it was not due to the highly competent individuals running his campaign.  He won the right votes in the right states.

One of Mr. Trump's campaign promises was to drain the swamp but he's now doing the opposite of that.  People were upset that Hillary Clinton gave speeches to Goldman Sachs and Trump is now hiring their executives to run the Treasury.   He railed against Clinton's email scandal, but he wants to put David Petraeus in his cabinet.

Putting Sarah Palin in charge of any branch of our federal government is an act of political malfeasance.

To his credit, Trump himself seems to be moving back toward the political middle and more towards where he has been politically for most of his life, but he's filling his cabinet with corrupt and incompetent individuals.  We are in for a long wild ride and I don't want Sarah Palin and others like her driving the car for any length of time.
