Retired From Combustion Engineering After 30 Years, Was Accomplished Football Player In Chattanooga

Stanley E. Worlen, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016.

He was born in Paintsville, Ky., to the late David Stanley Worlen and Marie Martin Worlen. Stan was an outstanding athlete at City High School, where he was named All City in football and attended The McCallie School for post graduate studies. Stan graduated from UT Chattanooga in 1956, where he was a member on the football team.

Stan retired from Combustion Engineering after 30 years of service.  He enjoyed attending the UT Chattanooga football and basketball games.  Stan was also a member of the Quarterback Club and the Moc Club.  He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed coaching Little League football and baseball.  Stan enjoyed meeting people and was a devoted family man.  He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and loved his church family.  Stan was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country in Germany.

Stan is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Alfreida Joyce Worlen; son, Todd Worlen and granddaughter, Abby Taylor Worlen, of whom he was so proud!

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11, at Christ United Methodist Church, Trinity Chapel. Interment will follow at a later date in the Chattanooga National Cemetery for family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Christ United Methodist Church or to The Siskin Foundation.
