Hattie Taylor
Hattie Ellerby Rivers Taylor, 93, died on February 1, 2016 at Consulate Health Care Nursing Home from Alzheimer's.
She was a member of the First Corinthians Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed. She was president of the Mother’s Board.
She was a breast cancer survivor for over 40 years. She often counseled and sat with other women who were frightened about their situation. She let them know that with God, all things are possible, because she was “living” proof.
As mother started to lose her memory, she said that she may not remember much, but she still remembered her God.
She is survived by her sons, William O. (DeHavilland) Rivers, Jr. of Chattanooga and Alfred A. (Sharon) Taylor of Atlanta; daughters, Alice Taylor (James) Keith and Marion J. Taylor, both of Chattanooga; godson, Dwight M. Ash and beloved brother, Charles (Greather) Tinker, both of Chattanooga; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, in the chapel with Reverend J. W. Strickland officiating and Reverend Timothy Careathers moderator. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
The body will lie in state after noon on Friday, Feb. 12, and the family will receive friends from 7–8 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
