Chattanooga Police arrested Carlos C. Reynoso, 24, for allegedly trying to run his wife over with his car while she held her young daughter.

On Tuesday, police responded to an assault at 3412 2nd Ave. around 4:30 p.m.

A Spanish-speaking officer translated for the victim, who advised her estranged husband, Reynoso, approached her residence 30 minutes earlier and tried to come in.

According to the victim, Reynoso had assaulted her many times in the past and no longer lived with her.

When she refused to let him in, he allegedly became enraged and tried to run her over with his black Ford Explorer.

The victim reported having to run between cars to avoid being hit. She told police Reynoso kept trying to run her over, even though she was holding her young child.

Two witnesses attested in Spanish to having seen the attempted assault take place as the victim held her daughter.

The defendant allegedly left the scene before police arrived. He was arrested later that night at 4107 Dorris St. on the charges of aggravated assault (domestic) and reckless endangerment.

Authorities placed Reynoso on a $15,000 bond for aggravated assault, and a $10,000 bond for reckless endangerment.
