CSCC Workforce Development Department Unveils Spring Corporate Training Line-Up

The Cleveland State Community College OneSource Workforce Development and Continuing Education Department unveiled the spring line-up of corporate training courses. Training sessions will be offered in topics such as leadership, human resources, customer service, new supervisor training, computer training, as well as safety training. 

Taught by professionals with industry experience, the Leadership Training Sessions will encompass a broad spectrum of leadership topics including leadership style and tendencies; communicating to lead others; leading across generations; coaching and mentoring; leadership and influence; leading change; leading teams; motivating others; strategic planning; and problem solving. These sessions can be offered individually or packaged as a complete training series.

The Human Resources training seminars provide a review of innovative skills, behaviors and strategies for recruiting employees, reducing employee turnover, promoting employee development and retaining a talented, flexible and diverse workforce. Topics include employee coaching; succession planning; performance management; legal issues in HR; identifying high potential talent; workplace diversity; employee motivation; selection and hiring strategies. These seminars will be offered quarterly and are available upon request.

The Customer Service course explains how quality customer service is defined and achieved through effective communication skills. Participants will be taught what customer service means in relation to all customers, techniques necessary for creating and maintaining customer-focused companies, be able to identify and understand customer needs, provide outstanding customer service in person and over the phone, deal with difficult customers and provide solutions for customer needs and problems. 

The New Supervisor Training is a three-day workshop that will help ease the transition of new responsibilities as a supervisor. Participants will be taught and be able and practice how to delegate duties, motivate and communicate effectively with subordinates and work groups, manage and leverage differences in work styles, resolve conflict, set goals and manage performance and identify and follow legal and ethical business practices. 

The Computer Training Sessions will teach how to enhance productivity and proficiency using computer applications. Classes will include Computer Basics; Microsoft Word; Introduction to Excel; PowerPoint Essentials; Outlook Essentials; and Basic Google Applications. 

There are a number of Safety Training Classes being offered this spring, including OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Training. This is available both online as well as in person. Upon completion, participants will receive an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry wallet card from the OSHA Training Institute (OTI). The General Safety Training course is safety training for entry level workers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of safety and health hazards in general industry workplaces. This safety training can also include the OSHA 10 certification. The Blood-borne Pathogens course will teach participants the information required to identify blood-borne pathogens and to protect against exposure. The course meets requirements established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. This course is offered both online and in person.

CSCC is also offering Conversational Spanish for the Workplace. This course will provide employees with the basic tools needed to successfully navigate through language barriers in the workplace.
