The Bradley County School Board is asking the Bradley County Commission to commit up to $14.5 million toward construction of a new academic building at Lake Forest Middle School.
The board said it would provide the balance of $2,625,000 needed for the new facility, which is estimated to cost $17,125,000.
School officials said they are ready to begin construction immediately following approval of the final design.
The Lewis Group was chosen for the design, and it is in the process of carrying out the design.
The county school board has committed restricted equity funds to cover professional services toward the new school.
The Bradley County Commission's education committee will meet Monday, Feb. 22, at noon to consider the school board request.
The meeting, called by Commissioner Thomas Crye, who is the education panel chairman, will be in the County Commission meeting room.
