Mary Englebert

Mary Elizabeth Englebert, 21, of Sachse, Texas, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in Pueblo County, Co.

Mary was born in Huntsville Al., and raised in the North Dallas area. She attended The Highlands School, graduated from St. Mark Catholic School and Bishop Lynch High School. She attended Huntingdon College. She played basketball all through high school as well as on Texas Express and Team Texas. She achieved one of her dreams of playing at the collegiate level.

Some of her employment included Ballard Street Café, refereeing youth basketball, and coaching for Nancy Lieberman Basketball camps for which she was most proud.

She was pursuing her certification to become a personal trainer.

There is no doubt that Mary lived life to the fullest, as evidenced by her huge contagious smile and crazy and obnoxious laugh. Her relationships were never less than passionate and exceedingly intense with the things she most cared about: God, family, friends, basketball, adventure, and having fun.

She was genuinely honest and tenacious to a fault, unyielding and determined in every respect.  Whether with herself or others she was driven to achieve her goals and live life on her own terms. She was brave, fierce, and courageous and without a doubt marched to the beat of her own drum. “There was nothing vanilla about Mary, and she had plenty of sprinkles to spare.”

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Searcy E. Englebert and her cousin, Lane Vaughan Smith, and numerous other relatives.

She is survived by her parents, Richard and Elisa Englebert; sister Grace Englebert; brother Jacob Englebert of Sachse Texas; paternal grandmother Jacqueline Englebert of Canton MS; maternal grandparents Elizabeth Ann Vaughan of Chickamauga GA.  and Thomas C. Smith III (Kim) of Calhoun GA.; Aunts and Uncles: Thomas and Amye Smith of Chickamauga GA.; Kathy and Tommy Squires of Canton MS.; Larry and Jeannie Englebert of Tuscaloosa AL.; Linda Englebert of Tuscaloosa AL.; cousins Amberley Smith; Will Smith; Ty Smith, Gavin Smith, Elijah Smith, and Harley Smith of Chickamauga GA. and numerous other relatives and dear friends.
