Jimmy Edward “Buzzard” Hayes, 69, of Cleveland, Tennessee, died on Sunday, January 31, 2016 with his loving family by his side.
He was born on May 19, 1946, in Etowah, TN, to the late Luther Charles and Reba Parrott Hayes. He attended First Baptist Church of Cleveland and was a member of the Cleveland Masonic Lodge 134 and the 32nd Scottish Rite. He retired with 32 years of service from Olin Chemical. He loved spending time with his family and friends, farming, and was an avid TN Vols fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Rev. Hugh and Edna Triplett; and brothers, Johnny Pellizzari and James Luther Hayes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Gloria Triplett Hayes; his two sons, Shane (Angela) Hayes and Tyson Hayes, both of Cleveland; granddaughter, Jordan Hayes; brothers, Hillard (Betty) Hayes of Athens, TN and Tommy (Judy) Hayes of Etowah, TN; sisters, Anita (Mickey) Perry of Jackson, TN and Linda Nolan of Melbourne, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4 at First Baptist Church Cleveland with Rev. Jim Gibson officiating.
Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Friday, Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. with a procession leaving from First Baptist at 9:40 a.m.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. service time at the church on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church Mission Fund.
