Charles Smith, 89, of Jasper, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016, in a Chattanooga hospital.
He served in the US Army Air Force during World War II and retired from Illinois Bell Telephone Company in 1982 after 35 years. After living in Illinois and Florida he moved to Jasper, in 1998.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Ray and Clara Belle Mason Smith; sister, Roslyn Zimny; and brother, Harold Smith.
Charles is survived by his wife, Norma Anderson Smith; daughter, Patricia (Grady) Lankster, of Jasper; sons, Robert “Bob” (Barbara) Smith, of Dixon, IL and Larry (Paula) Smith, of Flemingsburg, KY; grandchildren, Nyna Poole, of Jasper, Dana Harvey of Graysville, Douglas Lankster, of Whitwell, Matthew Smith, of Peoria, IL, Andrew Smith of Council Buffs, IA, Nicholas Smith of Maysville, KY and Tony Smith of Flemingsburg, KY; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. CST, Thursday, Feb. 4, with funeral services to follow in the chapel with Bro. Lynn Casseday and Bro. Bill Ross officiating.
