Drawings, graphic design, and 3D sculpture by GPS Advanced Placement students are featured during the month of February at the Landis Student Gallery of the Association for Visual Arts at 30 Frazier Ave. in North Chattanooga. The GPS exhibit features up to two pieces each from students in the three AP classes taught by Isabel McCall and Julie Deavers. Each girl has the option of selling her work.
The AP Exit Show of GPS student artwork will be in place for the entire month of February at AVA with an opening reception on Friday from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
The reception and month-long showing are free and open to the public.
Among the high quality of student art are several garments made of paper. Whether using newspaper, brown craft paper, or coffee filters, the students in 3D sculpture made, and modeled, their paper dress designs, amazing those who walked through the GPS Frierson Theatre lobby where their creative pieces were displayed in January.
AVA's Landis Student Gallery, sponsored in part by the George R. Johnson Family Foundation, provides a professional exhibition space for high school and college art students across the greater Chattanooga area. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
