UTC Track And Field Team At MTSU Saturday

  • Friday, February 5, 2016
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s indoor track and field team will head to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for the Middle Tennessee Invitational to be held at the Murphy Center Saturday.

Teghan Henderson (Pickering, Ontario) will run the Mile for the second straight meet while Maddison Melchionna (Afton, Tenn.) will stay with the 400 meter.

“The Mile is not Teghan’s event, but we’re looking forward to her continuing to work toward the SoCon championships,” Chattanooga head coach Bill Gautier said.
“Maddison is also running in an event unfamiliar to her, but this will help in the long run as she prepares for the postseason.”

Jessica York (Normandy, Tenn.) will run the 800 meter this weekend and Anna Kate Chance (Columbia, Tenn.) will run the 3000 meter.

“Anna Kate just missed the SoCon standard in the 3000 meter at the last meet,” Gautier said. “She’s going to try to get a faster time to make it into the faster heat.”

Madison Watson (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and Haley Morris (Lenoir City, Tenn.) competed well at the Emory Invitational last week.

“I wasn’t sure about Madison and Haley last week,” Gautier said. “They competed well and this is another good chance for them to get more collegiate experience.”

The event will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern time with the field events, including the high jump that will feature Nicole Sumida (Chattanooga, Tenn.).

The Mile will run at 2 p.m. with the Mile relay closing out the event with a 5 p.m. ET start.

Scoring will be provided by CFPI Timing and results will be available at GoMocs.com.
