George Hudgins, Jr.
Bishop Edward Hudgins, Jr., 83, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, February 6, 2016 in a local hospital.
He was born Aug. 2, 1932, to the late George and Rosa Hudgins, Sr. in Chattanooga. He accepted Christ in his early adult life. He was a member of Little Mount Calvary Holiness Church. He was a retired employee of Coca Cola Bottling Company. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was kindhearted and always talking of the goodness of Christ.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Mary “Peggy” McCollum, Ruby Lee Tumblin, Betty Jean Burt, Bernice Hudgins, and Hattie Hudgins; brother, Charles Hudgins.
He is survived by six children, George III (Ouida Pam) Hudgins, Anthony (Bertha) Hudgins, Marvin (Sandra) Hudgins, Kenneth (Lois) Hudgins, all of Chattanooga, Kalvin (Cynthia) Hudgins of Douglasville, GA, and Sharon (John) Hawkins of Chattanooga; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, James (Peggy) Hudgins of Chicago, Leon (Julia) Hudgins of Columbus, GA, and Willie James Hudgins of Chattanooga; two sisters, Joann Mills of Chattanooga and Robbie Felton of Honolulu; one devoted sister-in-law, Ella (Harold) Lay; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
He will lie in state on Friday, Feb. 12, after 12:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Eddie Jacks as the eulogist. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
