Joe Henry May, 80, of Dunlap, Tennessee, died unexpectedly at his home Sunday, February 7, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Smith May; parents, Ernest and Beatrice Barker May; brothers, Jack May and Ervin May; sisters, Betty Joyce Wright, Dortha K. Holmes and Ethel Lee Benefield.
Joe was a longtime Deputy Sheriff in Bledsoe and Sequatchie County and had been Sheriff of Sequatchie County for 16 years. He was a member of East Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sisters, Ann (Clyde) Johnson and Katherine (late Junior) Billingsby, both of Dunlap and Inez Merriman, Ft. Oglethorpe, GA; several nieces and nephews; and caregiver, Nancy Smith Cagle.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. CST Thursday, Feb. 11 in the Ewton Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Terry Barker and Bro. Michael Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Collier Cemetery. Law Enforcement Officers will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 2 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10.
