  • Monday, February 8, 2016

A Check Into Cash clerk in St. Elmo was robbed at gunpoint on Monday evening.

Investigators with the Chattanooga Police Department responded at 6:34 p.m. to a robbery from a business at 3801 Tennessee Ave.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the store clerk, and the clerk reported speaking with the suspect who then brandished a pistol. The suspect walked the clerk to the back of the store and demanded the money from the store. After taking the money the suspect tied the clerk's hands. Before the suspect left, the suspect tied the clerk's feet together with a rope. The suspect threatened to shoot the clerk if an alarm went off, and then fled.

A canvass of the area brought about no further evidence or witnesses. The store clerk did not sustain serious injuries and required no medical treatment.

The suspect was described as a black male, six feet tall, and slender build. He had a tear drop tattoo under his left eye and a lettered tattoo of “N.Y.” on the left side of his neck.

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this crime to call 423 698-2525. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
