Mocs Grab Some Attention At Pro Day

  • Tuesday, March 29, 2016

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team held its annual Pro Day in the Wolford Family Strength & Conditioning Center and Finley Stadium today.  Former quarterback and three-time Southern Conference Player of the Year Jacob Huesman turned some heads with some impressive numbers for the NFL scouts at the event.

Huesman began with a 35” vertical jump.  That would put him third among quarterbacks at this year’s NFL Combine.  He also had a 10’1” broad jump, which would have been second among the QBs at the Combine.

However, his best number was in the 40-yard dash.  His first tine was a 4.52 and his second run clocked in at a 4.55.  Both would have been the fastest times among quarterbacks in the 40 at the Combine.

“I was very pleased with the numbers I posted today,” stated Huesman.  “I exceeded my goals in the vertical, the broad and the 40 and I think the scouts were pleasantly surprised.  It was definitely a good start.”

His 40 time would tie for sixth with Oregon’s Marcus Mariota among quarterbacks on the NFL.com/Combine records that date back to 2006.  It is ahead of some other well-known names like Colin Kaepernick (4.35 – 2011) and Russell Wilson (4.55 – 2012).

Huesman was joined today by former teammates Tommy Hudson, A.J. Hampton, Sema’je Kendall and Toyvian Brand.  Hudson ran a 4.56 in his 40, while Hampton had a 4.65.

Hampton’s 40 time would put him in the top 10 for linebackers at the Combine.  His 34” vertical and 10’ broad jump would also rank in the top 10 fro linebackers at the Combine.

All five Mocs also took part in the other traditional drills, such as the three cone, 20-yard shuttle and 60-yard shuttle.
