Courts Building Market Street Entrance To Reopen

  • Thursday, March 3, 2016

Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger on Thursday announced the reopening of the Hamilton County-Chattanooga Courts Building, Market Street entrance, effective on Friday.

The entrance has been closed since the fall of 2001, following the events of September 11, 2001.

Mayor Coppinger said the reopening of the entrance is overdue. “Our Courts Building is one of our most attractive downtown buildings and it is appropriate that the people of Hamilton County be allowed to access the building from the front door entrance.”

Mayor Coppinger thanked Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond for his cooperation in the reopening of the entrance way.

Visitors to the Courts Building will undergo the same security screening they experience at the Courts Building’s Cherry Street entrances and at the two open entrances of the Historic Hamilton County Courthouse.
