The city of Chattanooga is recognizing Compliance Week from April 18 - 22 with daily training events for government entities, organizations, businesses, and community partners who work every day to uphold fairness and equal rights guaranteed by local, state, and federal laws.
“Chattanooga is stronger when city government and the community work together to raise awareness for those who feel like they do not have a voice or who may not know about services available to them,” said City Attorney Wade Hinton.
“Compliance Week is a great opportunity to learn and renew our focus on addressing and resolving issues of discrimination.”
City officials encourage business and organization leaders and their employees to initiate discussions during Compliance Week and continue those year-round in the areas of ethical practices and to identify and resolve instances of discrimination.
The sessions during Compliance Week will cover a variety of subjects that seek to enhance the social and economic quality of life for all Chattanoogans. Topics will range from education on fair housing and diversity to awareness for people living with disabilities and services available to families caring for aging loved ones.
Below are some of the topics that will be explored during Compliance Week:
All events will be held at the Development Resource Center (1250 Market St.), except Wednesday when the sessions will be at City Council Chambers (1000 Lindsay St.). Compliance Week activities are free and open to the public. Participants can attend one or all of the events.
